We installed the gate using tension only. We specifically purchased this gate because we did not want to have to screw into the wall. We followed the instructions, however when the gate is tight enough to the walls to not slide, the door becomes too tight. We need both hands to open it. I prefer the Summer Infant door mechanism. I think perhaps if we had used the cups that screw into the wall, we wouldn't have had to make the tension so tight and it would have opened with one hand. That said, it functions like it needs to, keeping our little one out of the kitchen while I'm cooking.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.
