We had been looking for a baby gate solution for our split-level stairs for months before I ran across this gate at Target yesterday. When our son first became mobile, we invested in a custom-built baby gate for the half of the staircase that goes down. We love that gate (it's beautiful, sturdy, the latch is easy for adults but tricky for kids) but it was VERY expensive and the thought of buying one (or two!) more seemed exorbitant.
